Visa - Botswana Namibia South Africa: A 3 month visitor's Visa to enter these countries will be issued at the border posts and international airports. New Zealanders do not have to apply for a visa prior departure from New Zealand. There are no charges for these Visas.
Visa - Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe: Your Safari Guide will advise you how to much and where to obtain local currency. Most of you trip will be pre-paid but you will need to make payments for Meals, some additional excursion and curio shopping.
Money Matters - Self Drive Safari: An Information Pack will be given to you if you book a self drive package through Safari Africa. It will give you all the travel distances and approximate fuel cost. It will also provide you with an estimate of all your additional expenses such as meals, activities and excursions, etc.
Money - Credit Cards: Credit Cards are accepted at most hotels and restaurants and are the best way to pay for meals and accommodation. It will however be advisable to have at least an equivalent of $100 NZD in the local currency in your pocket. You will need more if you self drive as some petrol stations do not have card facilities. Detailed information about fuel cost will be given when you make a booking for a self drive package.
Paper Money - Namibia: The currency of Namibia is the Namibian dollar. It is equal to the South African Rand. The South African Rand is accepted in Namibia at a 1 to 1 ratio with no commission. You can obtain local currency at ATM Bank machines at most mayor towns.
Paper Money - Botswana: The currency on Botswana is the Pula. You can make payments in South African Rand or USD but the commission is huge. Try to make all payments in the Botswana currency or by credit card. Some lodges do NOT take credit cards.
